1970’s

1979I Don’t Like Mondays by The Boomtown Rats became the UK Number One Single where it remained for 4-weeks. The song was written about the 1979 Cleveland Elementary School shooting in San Diego.

1973I’m the Leader Of The Gang (I Am) by the disgraced Glam Rock singer Gary Glitter began a 4-week spell at the top of the UK Singles Chart. The song was Glitter’s first UK number one.
