2016 – The 2012 X-Factor winner James Arthur claimed the UK Number One Single with his song Say You Won’t Let Go. The song, taken from his second album Back from the Edge, retained the top spot for 3 weeks.

2012 – The American blues/rock singer Nick Curran died of Cancer age 35. The singer, likened to The Sonics and T-Bone Walker, had beaten cancer once, but lost his battle in 2012.

2007About You Now by the Sugababes began a 4-week reign at the top of the UK Singles Chart. The 2009 Guinness World Records listed the song as first track by a British pop act to top the singles chart solely on downloads.


1978 – ABBA musicians Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad were married, both marrying for the second time.
