On this Day in Music – 28th May

1910’s

American blues singer and guitarist T-Bone Walker was born in Linden, Texas on this day 1910.   Born Aaron Thibeaux Walker, to parent musicians Movelia Jimerson and Rance Walker, and was of African-American and Cherokee descent.  Walker’s guitar skills often found him ranked in Greatest Guitarists of All-Time lists.

1990’s

The heart of Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan stopped for over two minutes, due to an overdose of a speedball drug concoction on this day 1996. Gahan fortunately was revived by paramedics where he was staying at the Sunset Marquis Hotel in Los Angeles.
