On this Day in Music – 27th June

1970’s

The legendary music venue Fillmore East played it’s final show on this day 1971.  The venue, owned by rock promoter Bill Graham, located on Second Avenue,  Lower East Side of Manhattan, NYC, saw The Allman Brothers Band, Albert King, Mountain and The Beach Boys perform on the invitation only night.

The Joan Armatrading album The Shouting Stage is 30 years old this week! The LP was recorded at her home in her Bumpkin studio. Although not a big commercial success, was critically well received. Mark Knopfler made a guest appearance on a couple of tracks. The Shouting Stage, Living For You and Stronger Love were released as singles.
