The English musician, singer, songwriter, and lead guitarist of The Beatles, George Harrison, was born on this day (1943) in 12 Arnold Grove in Wavertree, Liverpool. Although most of The Beatles’s songs were written by Lennon and McCartney, Harrison contributed with songs such as While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Here Comes the Sun and Something. Harrison also released a wonderful solo triple album All Things Must Pass.
Mike Peters, the lead-singer/guitarist of the Welsh band The Alarm, and part-time Big Country vocalist, was born (1959) in Prestatyn, Wales. The band’s highest charting success in the UK was 1983’s Sixty Eight Guns.
