1980’s

A Different Corner by George Michael was declared the UK Number One Single on this day 1986. When Radio DJ Simon Bates first played the song on Radio 1 he loved it so much he immediately played it again. The song stayed on the top spot for 3-weeks eventually knocked off by Falco’s Rock Me Amadeus.

The Ry Cooder and Vishwa Mohan Bhatt LP A Meeting by The River highlights two masters of their respective instruments. Cooder on slide guitar and Bhatt on the Mohan veena creates a hypnotic blend of cultures. They received a Grammy for best World Music Album.
