1980’s

1985I Got You Babe by UB40 and Chrissie Hynde became the UK Number One Single, where it remained for just one-week. The song, written by Sonny Bono, was also a number one in the UK for Sonny & Cher in 1965.

1970’s

1974The Osmonds single Love Me For A Reason claimed the UK Singles Chart top spot, where it remained for 3-weeks. The song was also covered by boy band Boyzone in 1994, reaching only number 2 in the UK charts.

1950’s

1957Paul Anka’s Diana began a 9-week reign at the top of the UK Singles Chart. The song was apparently inspired by a girl at the church Anka attended whom he hardly knew.
