The 1974 Tower of Power album Back to Oakland is apparently an important album for drummers to listen to. The Bay Area R&B act are new to me, but their infectious grooves and outstanding vocals by Lenny Williams gripped me by the horn section! |

The latest Gary Clark Jr album, This Land, is the LP I wanted his debut to be. Clearly more ambitious than Blak and Blu, from a man with something to say. This Land focuses on his song-writing prowess, rather than letting the guitar do the talking. Love Feed the Babies. |
