The American-Canadian singer and choreographer Paula Abdul was born in San Fernando, California on this day 1962. The songs Straight Up and Opposites Attract are two of her best known tracks.

The Black Merda! compilation The Folks From Mother’s Mixer, released in 2005, features tracks from Black Merda (1970) and Long Burn the Fire (1972).
