1950’s

The American singer-songwriter Madonna was born in Bay City, Michigan on this day 1958.  Madonna has had numerous number one singles, including Like a Virgin, La Isla Bonita, Like a Prayer, Vogue and many others.

1970’s

The King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley was found dead on his bathroom floor of his legendary home Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee on this day 1977.  Elvis was just 42 years old.  The cause of Presley’s death was a heart attack, although what triggered the attack is disputed.
