1970’s

Only four days after divorcing Sonny Bono, Cher married the co-founder of The Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman on this day 1975. Nine days later she filed for divorce due to his problems with drugs and alcohol.  Although following a reconciliation they remained married for three and a half years.

After hearing Nakhane on NPR, and watching the Later With Jools Holland performance I checked out the LP You Will Not Die. I’m glad I did, it’s an extraordinary piece from the South African. You Will Not Die is sensual, passionate, dramatic, theatrical…the adjectives could go on for ever. A must listen!
