1980’s

A Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute concert took place at London’s Wembley Stadium on this day 1988.  The show was broadcasted across 67 countries with viewing figures estimated at 600 million.  Notable performers included George Michael, Eurythmics, Dire Straits, Whitney Houston, Tracy Chapman and the Bee Gees.
