On this Day in Music – 18th May

1980’s

The Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis took his own life on this day 1980 at his Macclesfield home at just age of 23. Curtis suffered from depression and epilepsy. After listening to Iggy Pop’s album The Idiot, Curtis hung himself using a washing line. The track Love Will Tear Us Apart is Joy Division’s most well known track.
