The 2006 Ali Farka Touré album Savane was the Malian artist’s final LP. Recorded at the Hôtel Mandé in Bamako, where Ali was suffering from Cancer. Ali declared the LP was his finest, and I think he was right, his guitar work is sublime.

The 1976 Peter Tosh album Legalize It was his first after leaving the Wailers. The title track was banned in Jamaica, which brought more fame to Tosh. Less political than other work, Legalize It put Tosh on the map as a reggae legend in his own right.

The 1979 Michael Jackson album Off The Wall, produced by Quincy Jones, won a Grammy and was a major solo breakthrough for King of Pop. With Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder on the writing credits it was destined for greatness. Includes number-one single Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough.

Why have I not heard this album before??? The 1972 War LP The World is a Ghetto is a soul-funk masterpiece! I love The Cisco Kid and Four Cornered Room. The band were at their creative peak with this release. You dig?
